Zenith Academy Tourbillon El Primero Concept

A striking new addition to the prestigious Academy collection from Swiss watch manufacturer Zenith is the Tourbillon El Primero Concept.  This timepiece utilizes transparent sapphire for the dial to give a revealing perspective on the finely decorated mechanism, and impart a uniquely contemporary aesthetic identity.

The Zenith Academy Tourbillon El Primero Concept is presented in an 18-karat white gold case, which measures 40mm in diameter.  In addition to the curved sapphire crystal over the dial, the watch also features an additional pane of sapphire in the caseback which allows the intricate in-house Zenith mechanical movement to be admired.  Comprised of 170 components, and 25 jewels, the self-winding movement incorporates a watchmaking complication of great prestige: Abraham Louis Breguet's famous tourbillon.

Conceived at the turn of the 19th century to nullify escapement errors in vertically oriented timepieces such as pocket watches, the tourbillon is now a captivating visual treat for admirers of the most intricate mechanics.  In this particular Zenith watch, a dial aperture at 10 o'clock reveals the continual movements of the intricate tourbillon cage, as it completes a full revolution on its axis once every sixty seconds.  The power reserve of the El Primero 4041 caliber is 50 hours, and balance wheel frequency is Zenith's characteristically rapid 36,000 alternations per hour.

Each Zenith Academy Tourbillon El Primero Concept is accessorized with a hand-sewn strap in alligator leather, and a deployant buckle in 18K white gold.  Water resistance of this model is 30 meters.
