Audemars Piguet Quincy Jones Launch New Limited Edition Millenary Watch In US

One of the new SIHH 2010 timepieces from Audemars Piguet--the Millenary Quincy Jones Limited Edition--enjoyed a star-studded introduction to the United States this week, at an exclusive VIP event graced by none other than Mr. Quincy Jones himself. Audemars Piguet North America was responsible for organizing the event, which was held at the posh SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, and masterfully hosted by Francois-Henry Bennahmias, AP North America's charismatic President & CEO. In addition to debut performances by Quincy Jones of works from his newest album "Soul Bossa Nostra", guests enjoyed the prodigious talents of young Cuban-born pianist Alfredo Rodriguez.

Above all, the occasion served to place a bright spotlight upon the relationship between Audemars Piguet and Quincy Jones, a man important not only as an icon of popular music, but a patron of philanthropy--particularly where young people and their musical aspirations are concerned. The introduction of the new Audemars Piguet Millenary Quincy Jones watch amplifies the $1 million in financial backing which the Swiss house from Le Brassus has already pledged to the Quincy Jones Foundation and its Project Q initiative, a program established to recognize individuals and groups that have gone above and beyond in the cause of assisting and nurturing children. Appropriately, a portion of the proceeds generated from sales of this special Millenary watch series will be contributed to the ongoing projects of the Foundation.

Audemars Piguet will produce 500 numbered examples of the Millenary Quincy Jones timepiece. In addition to an engraved Quincy Jones signature on the back, the 45 x 40mm oval case in stainless steel shows off a lustrous blackened finish. This distinctive sheen perfectly sets off a complex two-sector dial with a piano key design on the outermost area, and an inner oblong black circle with applied Roman numeral figures in polished white gold. Ticking within is the highly regarded AP 3120 caliber, a self-winding movement manufactured by Audemars Piguet featuring a rapid-change date display, hacking center seconds, and a 60-hour power reserve. Fitted with a bi-directional 22K gold winding rotor, the 3120 is characterized by an elaborate construction which achieves both ruggedness and exceptional refinement in the esteemed traditions of haute horlogerie. Completing this Audemars Piguet Millenary limited edition watch is a luxurious crocodile leather strap and an elegant AP folding clasp in blackened stainless steel.
