Apr 25, 2008

A significant and possibly unique Patek Philippe single-button chronograph wristwatch will be offered for sale at an upcoming Sotheby's Geneva auction on Sunday May 11th, 2008. The yellow gold watch with enamel dial is extraordinary for its 46mm size, which makes it one of the largest Patek Philippe wristwatches ever made. It was the property of Count Carlo Felice Trossi, an Italian nobleman who was an enthusiastic pioneer of various forms of racing; Trossi also became the president of Scuderia Ferrari in 1932. The watch, accompanied by a 1937 issue of Scuderia Ferrari magazine with a photograph of Trossi, is expected to surpass a USD1.9 milion sale price.
The Sotheby's May 11th sale will feature approximately 200 other lots, including exceptionally rare and important pieces from Patek Philippe, Rolex, and Breguet. The sale will be preceded by an exhibition of the watches at the salons of the Beau-Rivage Hotel on Friday May 9th through Sunday at 6PM on May 11th. The auction itself will take place at 8PM.
