Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Pride Of China Watch, A Limited Edition

A new, limited edition Audemars Piguet Royal Oak timepiece pays homage to China's Great Wall--one of the world's greatest wonders.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Pride of China watch presents a striking combination of stainless steel and 18-karat pink gold.  The famous octagonal bezel--the most immediately recognizable feature of the Royal Oak watch--is realized in this luxurious metal, as is the winding crown and the two rows of vertically oriented links in the bracelet; the hexagonal bezel screws are crafted from white gold, their slots aligning to form a circle.  A silvered dial with a "grand tapisserie" central motif presents indicators for the moon phases and power reserve in the upper hemisphere, and a circular pointer-type date display at 6 o'clock. Turning the watch over reveals an intricately engraved solid caseback that depicts the Great Wall of China, as well as the text "Royal Oak Pride Of China Limited Edition".

Animating the Royal Oak Pride of China is the self-winding 3123 caliber, a variation upon Audemars Piguet's manufacture 3120 caliber.  Power reserve is approximately 60 hours, and the freely-sprung variable inertia balance alternates 21,600 times each hour.  In addition to the date, moon phase and power reserve indicator, the 3123 caliber also supports a sweep seconds function.  The massive, central rotor is crafted from 22-karat gold, and winds the mainspring in both its directions of rotation.

Audemars Piguet will produce 250 examples of the Royal Oak Pride of China.  The watch is fitted with a flat sapphire crystal, and is water resistant to 50 meters.
