Swiss watch manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultre has been synonymous with polo since the 1931, the year in which the venerable company introduced its iconic Reverso watch--a creation whose unique swiveling case gave excellent protection to the crystal and dial, thereby making it the premier timepiece for players of this arduous sport
To underscore the historic connection between itself and polo, Jaeger-LeCoultre this summer invited its polo ambassador Eduardo Novillo Astrada to the Manufacture, where the accomplished athlete got the opportunity to acquaint himself with the many varied aspects of producing a high-quality watch, and with it the rich 175-year history of the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand.
The delighted Astrada also got his chance to meet many members of the Jaeger-LeCoultre staff, whose work is indispensable to giving the brand's watches the renown they so enjoy among the timepiece cognoscenti. Eduardo Novillo Astrada, a winner of the Argentine Triple Crown and both the US and British Opens, has been featured in Jaeger-LeCoultre's campaigns for the Reverso Squadra watch collection, a modern interpretation of the Reverso watch whose bold profile is square, rather than rectangular. Earlier in the year, the Manufacture introduced a limited edition model with extensive ceramic elements--the Reverso Squadra World Chronograph Polo Fields--which was dedicated to Astrada.
