Louis Moinet Vertalis Tourbillon Limited Edition Watch
By Ariel Adams for ViaLuxe.com

This is one impressive tourbillon watch – a timepiece with a design that can adequately frame the highly regarded complication. A tourbillon complication has limited practical value in a wrist watch. The special type of balance wheel is a complex novelty that is fun to watch, and should be included in a watch with sufficient visual and technical appeal.

You’ll notice that the Vertalis Tourbillon by Louis Moinet is not your average ultra luxury timepiece. Instead, the case, movement and dial each emulate the traditional technical drawings of the famed Louis Moinet. The result is a complex case with a design that mixes mechanical artisanship and classically styled decoration. The tourbillon carriage is balanced by an open mainspring barrel at the top of the dial. Viewing the tautness of the mainspring acts like a power reserve indicator letting you know when to wind the manually wound LM06 movement that has a 72 hour power reserve.

The watch is in 18k rose gold with a 47mm wide case that is comprised of 50 parts. The delicate symmetry of the case and dial still has an organic machined look – as though one master watch maker put the timepiece together all by themselves. The black dial features the Louis Moinet unique cotes de Jura engraving, which is also used on the movement. Certainly a luxury timepiece for those who wish to be a bit different – almost like an alternative to Breguet high complication watch.
