MBF Horological Machine No 4 Thunderbolt Sneak Peek
Watch connoisseurs have, by now, become accustomed to the practices of MB&F prior to the debut of a new and wildly creative Horological Machine. Before an MB&F timepiece in its entirety is revealed to the world, the company first presents teasing glimpses of various parts of the case, or certain components in the movement. An illuminated curve here, a surprising shape there, and no more; from there, the imagination is left to ponder what Maximilian Busser and his team of horological dream weavers will produce next.

The fourth and latest hush-hush project of MB&F is a radical luxury watch called the "Thunderbolt", which will naturally bear the designation of Horological Machine No 4. While each of the previously introduced Horological Machines left many wondering how much farther the boundaries of watchmaking creativity could be stretched, the house nonetheless declares that HM4 will represent a new pinnacle. According to a brief announcement from MB&F, the radically shaped mechanical movement that bears the twin signatures of Laurent Besse and Beranger Reynard represents "a complete departure from any watch movement known today."

An examination of the strangely organized yet beautifully crafted bridges will provoke and confound connoisseurs of elite mechanical watchmaking until the Horological Machine No 4 Thunderbolt is finally revealed in four months time. Taking into account the arresting appearance of the movement itself--somewhat of a hybrid between a twin-barreled futuristic cannon and a sleek fantasy flying craft--it is not difficult to believe that the lofty claims MB&F makes are somehow justified. ViaLuxe is looking forward to providing its readers with an update on the HM4 Thunderbolt watch, when new information becomes available.
