Vacheron Constantin Kallania Watch Wins "Best High Jewellery Watch"

By Adam Keith, Associate Timepiece Editor for ViaLuxe-

At the Vogue Jewels Awards 2009 in Madrid Spain, the exceptional haute joaillerie ladies timepiece "Kallania" from Swiss watchmaker Vacheron Constantin claimed the prize in the Best Jewellery Watch category.  The Kallania, debuted by Vacheron Constantin at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) exhibition in January of this year, is already considered a spiritual successor of the venerable brand's mythic Kallista diamond watch--a unique creation of the gem-setters art introduced thirty years ago which quickly established itself as the world's most expensive wristwatch.

The cuff-styled Vacheron Constantin Kallania, crafted entirely from 18-karat white gold displays a glorious canvas of 186 bead-set emerald cut diamonds across its bracelet, case, and dial.  Sheathed within is the handwound Vacheron Constantin 1003 caliber--an exemplar of fine watchmaking, which with an overall height of just 1.64mm, holds a record as the world's thinnest mechanical movement.  The Geneva Seal stamped on the bridge is an indication of the movement's high aesthetic standards, and testifies to the classical norms of Genevoise haute horlogerie embodied in its construction.

On hand to proudly accept the Vogue Jewels Awards 2009 on behalf of Vacheron Constantin was Jean-Louis Queimado, Brand Manager of Vacheron Constantin Iberia, and acclaimed young Spanish conductor Inma Shara, herself one of Vacheron Constantin's most illustrious global ambassadors.
